The FA will investigate Derby's claims that its training session on Thursday was seen by an alleged "spy" of the rivals of the Sky Bet Championship Leeds.
Derby says the police had to get a Leeds employee off the perimeter of their training camp before Friday night's Championship game between the clubs, which is available live on Sky Sports Football.
Sky's sources confirmed that Derby manager Frank Lampard suspended training and removed players from the field after it was discovered that someone was watching the session from outside the fence.
A spokesman for the FA said: "We are aware of the incident in the Derby County training camp and will be investigating the matter."
Friday's Derby statement said: "The Derby County football club can confirm that Derbyshire police officers were called to the Derby County training center around 11:20 am on Thursday, January 10, 2019, after the reports of a man who acted suspiciously outside the facilities.
"Since then, it has been confirmed to Derby County that the person in question is an employee of the football staff of Leeds United Football Club.
"The club is now in discussion with Leeds United club officials in connection with this incident.
"At this time no further comments will be made."
The Derbyshire police said: "The officers carried out routine checks, which were all above the board.
"No damage was found to the fence, and the man was stopped outside the grounds.
"No arrests were made and the man was sent on his way."
