Southampton striker Charlie Austin has been suspended for two games of the Football Federation after making a gesture offensive to Manchester City fans last month.
The 29-year-old forward was accused by the FA for his actions after being replaced during Southampton's 3-1 loss to St. Mary's on Dec. 30. He accepted the FA's position on the gesture and will now lose the Saints', Premier League. Clash with Leicester and his FA Cup replay against the Derby.
Austin, who received a yellow card for a foul of 10 minutes before being replaced, has played in Southampton's last four games in all competitions and scored three goals for Santos this season.
His absence adds to the problems of coach Ralph Hasenhuttl in the attack, with Danny Ings and Michael Obafemi, both poised to lose the showdown against Leicester with tendon injuries.
Watford striker Troy Deeney has also been accused of commenting on referee David Coote after a 3-2 draw with Bournemouth on Jan. 2.
Deeney criticized Coote's performance in the Premier League clash, and said that in a later interview with the BBC, the official had "bottled up on a few occasions."
