Atletico Madrid in negotiations to sign Chelsea's Álvaro Morata

Atletico Madrid are in talks to with Chelsea's Alvaro Morata.

Morata was connected to a Stamford Bridge exit after losing his place as Chelsea's first-choice forward, and boss Maurizio Sarri prefers to use Eden Hazard as his main point of reference in the attack.
The former Real Madrid striker could settle for a return to the Spanish capital less than two years after joining Chelsea in a record £ 70m offer at the club. Morata has been linked to Sevilla and Barcelona in recent weeks but Atletico, the club where his youth career began, now appears to be a pioneer in his signing.

Chelsea sold Diego Costa to Atlético just three months after signing with Morata.
But Costa have struggled to stay in shape this season and scored just one goal in 11 league games, prompting Atletico to look for another attack option to complement Antoine Griezmann.
Blues boss Sarri did not hide his desire to add two players to his Chelsea team and pointed to a meeting with former Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently loaned to Milan by Juventus.

Higuain is Chelsea's priority to bolster the attack although the club are also considering a move to Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson with England midfielder West Ham who may need a substitute for Marko Arnautovic.
