The Independent report United are set to open talks with De Gea and his representatives about extending the keeper’s stay at Old Trafford.
De Gea joined United under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has developed into one the world’s elite keepers and recently reached the landmark of 100 clean sheets for the club after the beating Everton 4-0 at OId Trafford. But he has constantly been linked with a return to Spain with Real Madrid and would have been in between the sticks at the Bernabeu had it not been for that infamous faulty fax machine in the summer of 2015.
Since then, the club have been much more bullish on their position arguably the best keeper in the world is not for sale with a feeling around the club De Gea is enjoying life in Manchester and working with Mourinho.
United reaffirmed their stance in the summer, insisting De Gea who has won the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup was going nowhere.
He said: “I can guarantee that he’s not going this season, that I can, and my feeling is it will be very difficult for him to go. Because he’s a very honest boy, very straight.
