Manchester City to make Tottenham's Kyle Walker the most expensive defender EVER in £54million transfer

Kyle Walker will become the costliest defender in football history when he joins Manchester City for £54million.
Blues boss Pep Guardiola is ready to hand Tottenham and England right-back Walker a five-year deal at around £150,000-per-week, plus bonuses that will take him close to £200,000-per-week and the club’s total investment in the player to £100m.
And they plan to continue their spending spree by finalising a deal this weekend, for close to another £50m, that will see Monaco's Benjamin Mendy join as their new left-back.
City have finally met Tottenham’s asking price for Walker, 27, after having a £40m offer knocked back.
They will pay an initial £45m, £5m more in 12 months’ time and another £4m in add-ons — a total surpassing the previous world-record £50m Paris Saint-Germain paid Chelsea for centre-back David Luiz in 2014.
The 27-year-old has already travelled to Manchester and will have his medical on Friday before making things official.
City are also close to landing Mendy after stepping up talks with the Ligue 1 outfit, who are demanding £50m for the 22-year-old France international.
They hope to complete Mendy’s signing in time for both full-backs to jet out on Monday on their three-game pre-season tour in the USA.
Walker could even face Tottenham in one of his first matches for City, with the Premeir league heavyweights due to meet in Nashville, Tennessee on July 29.
Landing Mendy and Walker will ease Guardiola’s disappointment at seeing their fellow full-back Dani Alves slip from his grasp this week, and the pair were always the City manager’s two top targets at the position.
Guardiola will be delighted they are close to signing, and taking his outlay this summer to nearly £170m.
Meanwhile, losing out to PSG on Alves has made Etihad chiefs even more determined to pursue Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez as strongly as possible.
